OptiBiotix SlimBiome® Medical shortlisted for top industry award

NutraIngredients-Asia has named OptiBiotix revolutionary weight management product, SlimBiome® Medical, as a finalist in the ‘Ingredient of the Year: Weight Management’ category of the 2019 awards.

Dr. Frederic Narbel, Managing Director, OptiBiotix Prebiotics division, said: “We are delighted to receive this shortlisting for SlimBiome Medical, recognising the importance and increasing demand for science-backed weight management solutions which offer an innovative approach. The awards are incredibly competitive, so to have been shortlisted is an exciting achievement in itself.”

SlimBiome Medical contains award winning-ingredient SlimBiome®, which has medical device status and a CE mark. It also contains key ingredients backed by science for weight management, two of which, glucomannan and chromium, allow for European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) health claims.

Uniquely designed to modify the human microbiome, SlimBiome Medical helps improve the success of weight loss while maintaining blood sugar levels, which helps lessen food cravings and induces a lower blood glucose rise after meals. It also supports a diverse microbiome due to its high dietary and prebiotic fibre content.

SlimBiome is backed by a growing body of independent human studies which demonstrate its effectiveness in helping users manage their weight. It has already won several major industry awards, including ‘Weight Management Ingredient of the Year’ at Vitafoods 2018, and the award for ‘Best Functional Ingredient for Health and Well Being’ at Food Matters Live in 2017.

The NutraIngredients-Asia Awards reward true innovation, excellence and cutting-edge research in functional foods, supplements and nutrition. The finalists will be showcased on the NutraIngredients-Asia stand at Vitafoods-Asia 2019 for two days in September and the winners will be announced and presented with their trophies at an awards ceremony on Tuesday 24th September in Singapore.
